I can remember being a little girl walking through art museums with my mom. I quickly fell in love with the impressionist paintings. The bright use of colors, the thick swirls of paint, I remember wishing that the world could be as immensely beautiful as these works of art.
My name is Calli Perez, I am now twenty and an aspiring journalist. Along with writing, I love to draw, design, and study art, particularly fashion.
I love to travel and to experience other parts of the world. I love ideas and objects that set out to make the world a more beautiful place. Whether it be the splatter on a canvas or the stitching on a hemline, I take leisure when surrounded by all artistic and creative.
When dealing with art, I have learned that inspiration is key in creation, which is what my blog is all about. Taking runway fashion, particularly Fall 2009, and finding where they derived from. Whether it be consciously, subconsciously, or merely coincidental, designers’ collections seem to have striking resemblances to many pieces found in art history that leave their audiences with the sense of deja vu.
I agree that fashion reflects art. Also, when we find the colors and techniques of our favorite era of art in designers’ collections,we tend to purchase from these collections.
