Keep your skin looking radiant this winter with these useful tips.

By Alicia Alvarez

Cold winters and brisk falls are notorious for dry skin, especially for those who have dry skin to begin with. The frigid cold temperatures of fall and winter can quickly turn you beautiful rosy cheeks into an uncomfortable and shriveled mess. Worst of all, dry skin can amplify even the smallest line and wrinkle in your skin.

Cold Weather is only Partially To Blame

For the most part, dry skin results from your environment. It can come from cold-dry weather, from being in areas of low humidity, from long exposure to indoor home cooling or heating, and from excess bathing. There are also a handful of genetic factors that can cause your skin to not retain moisture. But for the large portion of environmental culprits, their toll on your skin can be partially controlled. For example, a humidifier can add moisture to the air in your home. You can even have one built in to your central system.

Lotion Seals In Moisture

Dry skin is usually a minor and temporary nuisance, but it can also get pretty bad, until the point when you start seeing redness and possible skin cracking. Your best weapon against dry skin is to use moisturizers like lotions. Remember: the thicker the better. Moisturizers work by acting like a sealant for your skin, preventing the evaporation of water. Oils can also be used, but they tend to be messy and can stain.

Water and Other Irritants

The second best thing you can do is to limit the amount of time you spend in the shower. Baths can be very relaxing, but during the winter you should limit the amount of time you spend in the water. Also, watch out for harsh soaps, and use soap that has added moisturizers like Dove. Body-wash can be especially drying due to the antimicrobial agents used in their formulas. If you use an antimicrobial body-wash year-round for medical reasons like for acne, switch to one that also include moisturizers.

Dry skin doesn’t have to be a nuisance, and following these precautions will help you have great skin year-round, even in the winter.

Louis Vuitton doesn’t miss a beat this fall, with a ballet-inspired theme. Fashion meets dance in a dark ballet number. While we are used to the signature “LV” patterns, we are pleased to see a new style come out of the fringe (literally).

Ballet-inspired footwear gives the illusion that one is daintily dancing on their toes. The ballet heels wrap around the ankle and tie in the back, some even lacing up to the knee. Fitted tops and short bubble skirts and dresses add to this look.

This line makes a statement with dark and light outfits and strategically placed bows and lace. Rich hues and bold blacks scream chic. There is lots of frills; big and small, on the clothes, shoes, and accessories. Besides all the new stuff, the line consists of the signature LV logo on accessories.

Even Madonna took a break from adopting children and lifting weights, to model this line. You can see her in the Louis Vuitton ads everywhere now.

Dancer-inspired ensembles can often look cheesy and costume-like, but this fall LV hits exactly the right queue.
